Please join us for a Federation visit to Thornton Hall Gardens, celebrated as “One of Britain’s Finest New Gardens with a Fascinating Old Past.†You’ll discover an inspiring collection of rare and unusual perennials, complemented by characterful trees and beautifully curated shrubs. There are mixed borders, island beds, and charming hidden corners featuring unique sculptures.
Bowes Tearoom: Stop at the ‘Bowes Tearoom’ at Thorton Hall, where you can indulge in morning coffee, delicious homemade lunches, fresh salads, sandwiches, and of course, traditional afternoon teas with homemade cakes and cream scones.
Plant Sales: If a particular plant catches your eye, you’re in luck! Many of the varieties found around Thornton Hall Gardens are available to buy from the plant sales area beside the Hall, where the staff are available to help with planting advice.

Please make sure you bring a mobile phone along with you on the trip.
Please fill out the booking form HERE and send it to CWFWI, Kendal House, Murley Moss Business Village, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL together with your cheque for full payment of £40 (state THORNTON on reverse) made payable to CWFWI. Please complete one form per person. (BACS payment also accepted, see below).
This form can also be emailed to admin@cwfwi.org (and the acknowledgement will be emailed back to you) but booking will only be accepted with follow-up payment.
