PARKING
Parking for the WI Office
If you are visiting the WI Office there are various options for parking.
We have two spaces for parking at our office that are designated for our use. These are usually occupied by staff. We also have a space that is for ‘drop off’ or ‘pick up’ only.
Most of the time there are free parking spaces around the Murley Moss car park, not too far from the office, that unless they are designated spaces, can be used by anyone. Occasionally our neighbours at the National Park offices have big meetings and on those days parking is a bit more under pressure.
Most days there are spaces near by.
If you are coming for just a couple of hours or so, you can park at Asda and it’s less than a five minute walk from the back of the car park, across the little footbridge over the stream, left on to Oxenholme Road and then to the office (you do have cross Oxenholme Road due to the lack of footpath for a very short stretch). Please observe the regulatory signs on their car park.
- You are allowed to park at ASDA for 3 hours maximum
- This applies to Blue Badge users as well
- You DO NOT have to go into the store to buy anything
- You DO NOT have to pay to park for this length of time
- Your car registration is noted remotely on arrival, which is how they know how long you’ve been there.
- On Sundays you must leave by 4pm even if you have been there for less than 3 hours
- HOWEVER:
- You MUST NOT exceed this 3 hour limit – if you do, you will be served a notice and risk a fine which could be £100.00.
- On the day, if you know you need to park at ASDA for longer than 3 hours, on arrival you must ring the phone number on the signs put up around the site. They will be able to organise for you to pay to stay for longer, but this is not something they can do in the store (no matter what it says on the signs!!!) We would recommend using the JustPark App instead
Alternatively, if staying for a longer period you can use ‘Just Park’ at this link https://www.justpark.com/uk/parking/south-lakeland/kendal/
You can pay to park at Asda for an extended period. In addition, if you use this method you can extend your stay online if find yourself nattering over a lazy coffee or browsing our fabulous gift shop!
If it has been dry there is actually a little path, through a small stile, just after the footbridge through to the office building, past Spa Medica, that cuts out using Oxenholme Road but it can be a bit muddy after rain.
